23rd Annual Remembrance Ride and Concert Benefiting the Stevie Ray Vaughan Scholarship Fund

Enjoy a fun-filled combination motorcycle parade and blues/rock concert. The event will take place on October 1, 2017.  All proceeds benefit the Stevie Ray Vaughan Scholarship Fund.

Established in 1992 at the Communities Foundation of Texas, the Stevie Ray Vaughan Scholarship Fund was formed to assist students who demonstrate a strong interest and ability in music to pursue a college education.

Greiner Middle School, a Dallas Independent School District magnet school for music, was selected as the target school for the awards.

An inner-city school, Greiner is located in the heart of Oak Cliff, where Stevie spent his childhood. Students are awarded the scholarships at the end of their 8th grade year, and upon graduating from High School students may use the scholarships to attend the college or university of their choice. The teachers recommend candidates for the scholarship, and each candidate must have a good attendance record and good grades.

Martha Vaughan, Stevie's mother, was an active participant in the Scholarship Fund and attended the annual scholarship auditions at Greiner Middle School and helped to select the award recipients. Each year Mrs. Vaughan has matched the donation from the Ride to the Scholarship Fund.

To date, 237 Scholarships with a total value of $812,500 have been awarded to music students at Greiner Middle School. If you would like to donate, please click this button. As part of our Communities Foundation of Texas' 25th anniversary year celebration, we started scholarships for our previous recipients who complete undergraduate studies and go on to study music in graduate school. Those are $2,000 scholarships, or $1,000 a year for two years. Thank you for your support!
